Child Count

What is the Child Count?

The Nebraska Deafblind Project Child Count is a statewide initiative supporting students with combined vision and hearing loss, along with their families and educational teams. This vital effort helps ensure that students receive the resources and services they need. Any student in Nebraska with any degree of hearing and vision loss—regardless of verification status—can be included.

The Child Count is a separate record-keeping system maintained by each state’s deafblind project. Only numerical data is reported to the National Center on Deafblindness, and all names remain strictly confidential.
